This yummy street food is everyone’s favourite so much that if Pune was a country, this would have been their national food. There are many eateries that are known to make the best Misal Pao in Pune that people swear by. So here’s where to have them.

Shri Krishna Bhavan

This place was established in 1941 and has been a hit amongst the locals ever since. Due to the fan following, they have adjoining table to fit in as many people as possible. Their misal is made up of chiwda, batata bhaji, poha and pao. On top are chopped onions, green chilli, lemon giving it that kick and tari which is made up of oil and spices.

Highly recommended. Kata Kirr has 5 outlets in the entire city. Their misal pav is so famous that people drop in everyday to have it and especially on the weekends when the waiting time can go up to an hour. The misal pao is a combination of potato, farsan and sev, garnished with onions and topped with their secret curry which makes it super spicy and absolutely yummy. It is best had with buttermilk to cool the effects of the spices.

Bedekar Tea Stall

Hands down, it is one of the most popular places in Pune; Bedekar Tea stall is as iconic as Shaniwar Wada. It is a 40 year old place and claims to serve the ‘asal’ Puneri missal. Their missal pav is made up of mix of matki (moth bean), pohe, chiwda, sev and farsan topped with piping hot rassa, with onions and coriander. Not high on spice and a mix of sweet and tangy. They place opens early and people start coming in starting from 7 am.

This one is like a hidden gem of the city because of its location which makes it very easy to be missed. Don’t go on the appearance of the place, Vaidya Upahar serves one of the best Misal Pav in the city. Putting no effort in decorating the place, they have put everything in making their misal absolutely delightful. Made from the freshest of ingredients every single day, their misal consists of yellow pohe, chiwda, sev, onions and coriander with bread on the side and their very famous green ‘sample’ made from hot green chillies. You cannot just eat one here.
