Domus is a health focused menu, all-veg hideaway bistro in the quieted back of a zany design shop. Pondy is a seaside town, but that doesn’t make it a beach destination; the city’s sand is a thin strip of dirty brown that slurps into a seawall of jagged rocks. In any case, Goubert Ave (Beach Rd) is an exceptional walk, particularly at first light and dawn when a large portion of the town takes up a romantic mood. In a romantic teak-columned courtyard, Maison Perumal’s Tamil/French restaurant turns out brilliant, daily changing market-fresh dinners full of local flavours and ingredients. Options include pure-veg or fresh masala-grilled fish of the day. Lunch is à la carte.
