Ramlila & Dussehra Mela Celebrations in Noida & Ghaziabad

It is that time of the year again when the ‘good’ takes over the ‘evil’ and all is well again in the world! Yes, Dusshera festivities are reaching their peak with Vijay Dashmi round the corner. But no Dussehra festivities are complete without ‘Ram Lila’ shows. Ramlila is an Indian traditional form that has been performed in all over India and especially in the northern states since many centuries.

Everyone gathers at a pre-decided venue, where the locals themselves would put on a show, portraying the victory of Lord Rama over Ravana. This presentation has colorful sets and costumes, and is filled with poetry and music. So, here is a chance to live the golden days again and have some fun!

Though the number of Ramlilas in Noida has gone down; we have listed for you a few big Ramlilas this year – Noida, Ghaziabad and Greater Noida.

Watching the towering effigies of Ravana, Meghnad, and Kumbhakaran burned to the ground in the society grounds or local ramlila maidans have always been a mesmerizing affair.Add to this the numerous food stalls and joy rides, and you are in for grand celebrations of Dusshera – a festival that marks the victory of good over evil.

Every day, before the Ramlila, there’s a costume parade of performers. The Ramlila of Central park has of late been using technology to create unarguably the most captivating and dramatic display. The committee also boasts of the tallest effigies used every year on the top of Dusshera in Delhi.

Ramlila Ground– Greater Noida

The main feature of Dusshera and the preceding Navratri (9 nights) has been the enactment of scenes from Ramayan in the form of Ramlila performances.For this season, we suggest you to catch the amazing celebrations of Dusshera at the popular ramlila maidan of Greater Noida.  The committee here prepares for the Ramlila for quite a time and is always a huge affair. On Vijay Dashmi, as soon as the sun starts going down, giant effigy of Ravan is burnt every year followed by a fireworks show, music and dance.

The festive fervour is underway at Gaur City, Greater Noida West! For the first time Gaur city is holding the Ramlila… and they  delivered with elan!

This committee has been organizing Ramlila for the past 40 years at Sector 9 Ramlila ground in Vijay Nagar. Every year, more than 20,000 people visit their Ramlila, enacted by Shri Laxmi Narayan Kala Manch. They have close to 50 joyrides for children at the Ramlila premises. The most popular is the giant wheel that can also be enjoyed by adults. They have also organized the famous ‘maut ka kuan’ (well of death) to thrill the audience.

The committee here prepares for the Ramlila for quite a time and is always a huge affair. The Ramlila will host a fair with rides and food stalls. They have created a 70-foot tall Ravana, 65-foot Kumbhakarna and 60-foot Meghnad effigies to be burnt on Vijayadashmi.
