Murray dismisses Raonic to win his second Wimbledon Crown

Andy Murray won his third grand slam title at the SW19 this year at Wimbledon 2016 by beating Milos Raonic of Canada 6-4,7-6, 7-6. Raonic who had an amazing run to the finals with the highlight of his beating the 7 time champion Roger Federer in the semi finals was left dejected as he apparently threw all he had in order  to secure the win. But the day belonged to Andy who didn’t even put a foot wrong since the start of the match and kept the foot on the peddle at the decisive moments of each set.

Under the watch of royalty (Prince William and Kate Middleton) and the tennis greats (Stephen Edberg ,Bjorn Borg, Boris Becker) Murray put on an absolute clinical display of high quality tennis which left Raonic in anguish. The British fans were denied a home champion for 77 years till Murray broke the jinxing 2013, and now they have 2 titles to a British man in the span of 4 years.

It wasn’t that Milos Raonic played bad today, no sir! He was at his A-game on the center court, serving at a speed of 140 miles per hour, just like he did with Federer, but today he was met with solid returns which hampered his flow of service holds. A break in the first and two tie breaks were enough for Murray to put off a formidable foe to look forward to in the near future.

Apart from the royalty and tennis greats the final was also attended by the likes Bradley Cooper and Benedict Cumberbatch. But the highlight of the attendance at Wimbledon 2016  remained that of the outgoing Prime Minister whose mention by the champion in his post match interview was met with boos. After his loss at finals of Roland Garros this year, Murray has indeed returned to his winning ways after sustaining an injury last year, we just hope he gives his best in the next one up in August.
