In my blogs I keep talking about how determination make the man, and how one has to take chances, calculated risks and pave paths which are not commonly seen – just to see their dreams materialize. If you follow these steps, and grab one of the various ideas which float around in the air, you shall more certainly than not be classified to be a cut above & different from majority of the people who tend to dwell on familiar territories rather than try out new things.
Now, talking to a guy who has done exactly that and even more just made all that I said above legit, in every sense of the word. The person in question is none other than Neil Roy, whose brainchild ‘FFACE’ has in just over a couple of years become one of the most sought after brands in the city, and also a big deal when it comes to talent management.
FFACE has garnered huge popularity among aspiring actors, models, fashion photographers and others on the same line of work. This has primarily been possible because of the great platform these guys are providing for all the aspirants – exposure to grooming sessions, FFACE covers all critical areas of the field.
So, how did the idea for such a venture come about? “The idea popped up while having a casual conversation with an aspiring professional photographer, who was in need for a platform to promote his talent” says Neil. However it was given shape over a cup of coffee with Neil’ s close friend, prominent fashion designer, Indroneel Mukherjee who now holds the position of the director of fashion for FFACE.
He also adds how he felt the “need to provide a solid platform for all aspirants of the entertainment industry”, especially from the city of Calcutta.
Which got me asking him about the event – FFACE Calendar which has taken the city of joy by storm since its first outing back in 2014.
“This is an annual fashion calendar by budding talents and is by far the flagship event of FFACE” -something which actually got Neil Roy and Co in the radar.
FFACE calendar not only gives an opportunity to models, but at the same time photographers, make-up artists, hair stylists etc.
For the latest installment of the fashion calendar, there are a plenty of new things which will take place, according to Neil. For starters, “people throughout the entire eastern Indian states can register themselves for a chance to feature in the calendar, unlike the last installments where people were only chosen from Kolkata” Registration kiosks have been set up in various shops, outlets and other venues.
The next thing which he mentioned was perhaps the most intriguing out of them all. FFACE Calendar edition 4, as it is dubbed will be the start of a first of its kind “television reality show, which will be aired by Music Fatafati, nationally compared to regionally last year by Music Bangla/Zeal” The preparations for auditions for the same are underway.
This edition also has a heavy Bollywood influence and involvement – most notably by Sonali Raut, who is all set to adorn the cover of FFACE 2017 – to be shot in Thailand.
While talking about this, the excitement could be felt through Neil’s voice as he was preparing to board a flight to Mumbai !
FFACE has also signed up with gorgeous Kainaat Arora, for a promotional campaign of FFACE’s associate partner, Murali Group. Kainaat will be shooting on 8th Sept with the FFACE team, followed by press conference and an exclusive after party!
Given the huge craze which surrounds FFACE Calendar, something which I have personally seen as well…the brand name Neil Roy has built for himself and his Company, is not only highly commendable, but at the same time inspiring in more ways than one.
From being a commercial banker to founding a pioneer company, how has the entire experience been for him? “amazing and overwhelming” he answers, modestly.
The modesty in the man becomes even clearer when he takes time out to thank all the people who supported him in setting up this venture.
FFACE Calendar is set for a January ’17 release, and as things stand the launch will take place at a prominent city hotel. (Well, I did get an invite to the launch, but I cannot spoil anything right now! Y’all have to wait for a while to find out more!)
I on behalf of What’s Up Kolkata, would like to thank Mr. Roy for his wonderful cooperation in making the entire telephonic conversation noteworthy. 🙂
