Whoever said any amount of jewellery is ‘enough’? Not a woman in my know! Every girl’s wardrobe is a pandora’s box of such treasures. And when the festive season is around the corner, ethnic is what we recommend. My stylist instincts coax me to share the jewellery-to-own trends this season. Here goes….
You don’t have to go to Bareilly to get one…. The jhumka is one creation that we raise gratitude for. Wear an oversized one or a dual toned one, the Jhumka is the all rounder that wins hands down. Never out of style, the style brings an instant ethnicity to the outfit. Pair these with a traditional suit or an embroidered jacket and flared skirt… These, you can never go wrong with.
Oversized Chaand Balis
As beautiful as these look, they extract the essence of tradition like no other. The oversized, shoulder brushing ones are crazily in vogue right now and will lend glamour to any outfit. Planning to wear a sari or a sherwani? Add the glitz of the Chaand Bali, preferably the ones with white pearls…. they look orgasmically breathtaking!
These have been fad ‘ing’ for a while now. Get a slinky chain one to slide on, for a semi-formal celebration or the more traditional one to make a diva style statement amidst the festivities, these look pretty cool too! Or just get one of each kind and end the dilemma.
Nose Pin/ Ring
I know, I know…. not just for this season, the nose ring came, saw and conquered. I still stick to my guns with this one, not just because I don one, but because they look simply sensuous too…. don’t ask me why…they just do. Take a call on the diamond solitaire pin or the funky ring in silver or gold. Better still pick both and add to the varied looks. What’s more? They look stunning with any kind of outfit!
Remember Jodha Akbar and Padmavat? The opulence of the jewellery they wore was just magnificent. Since those eras, the waist band or ‘kamarband’ has been playing on the left foot. This season get the thin diamante one, sleek and chic to add to the jazz of a crop top and ‘ghagra’ or a simple sari…. On jeans, they are piping hot! If you decide to jazz up a tad more, get the traditional ‘polki’ one. These are purely royal.
All that glitters is not Gold, but it sure is glamourous! Holding true for the body chain, it is one of the most innovative pieces of jewellery. A simple colour blocked outfit can get an uplift, with these at the bat of an eyelid. Gold, silver or studded… the body chains come in all avtaars.
Why do you fear when i’m here? That’s the statement ring for you. The humungous floral ones in semi precious stones, glass and Polki are all you need to make a ‘statement’. They are the Virat Kohli, who is called on to save the day!
