India’s Medal Haul At The Asian Games 2018

From the 18th of August to 2nd of September, will be the 18th edition of the Asian Games. After the medal haul at the Commonwealth Games held earlier this year, India makes the haul yet again at the esteemed Asian Games, being held in Jakarta. Here is the medal tally for all the heroes from our land who made us proud!

GOLD MEDALS

Arpinder Singh clinched India’s first men’s triple jump gold

  • Arpinder Singh clinched India’s first men’s triple jump gold in 48 years with a jump of 16.77m in the Asian Games.
  • Manjit Singh bagged Gold in men’s 800 metre race with timing of 1 minute and 46.15 seconds.
  • Neeraj Chopra became the first Indian javelin thrower to win an Asian Games gold medal.
  • India’s Tajinder Pal Singh Toor set a new meet record to clinch the gold medal in the men’s shot put event.
  • Rohan Bopanna-Divij Sharan win gold in tennis men’s doubles.

  • Vinesh Phogat wins gold in women’s 50 kg freestyle wrestling

SILVER MEDALS

Dutee Chand grabbed the silver medal in the women’s 100 metres race

  • India’s Dutee Chand grabbed the silver medal in the women’s 100 metres race at the 18th Asian Games. 
  • Olympic medallist PV Sindhu yet again finished second-best in a major final but grabbed a historic individual silver medal.
  • Pincky Balhara wins silver in Kurash. Pincky Balhara won silver in the women’s 52 kg category.
  • India win silver in mixed 4x400m relay. India team of Muhammed Anas Yahiya, Poovamma Machettira, Hima Das and Rajiv Arokia clocked 3:15.71 to finish second in mixed 4x400m relay.
  • Jinson Johnson bagged silver medal in men’s 800 metre race with timing of 1 minute and 46 sconds.
  • Indian women’s compound team signed off with a silver medal after losing to South Korea in the finals at the 18th Asian Games here today. They  lost 228-231 to Korea in a contest that went down to the wire till the final set of arrows.
  • In the team event, India, comprising Rakesh Kumar, Ashish Malik and Jitender Singh and Fouaad Mirza, finished with 121.30 points to win a silver medal.

Fouaad Mirza won the silver medal in individual horse jumping

  • Fouaad Mirza won the silver medal in individual horse jumping with a score of 26.40, while Japan’s Oiwa Yoshiaki clinched the gold with a score of 22.70.
  • Muhammed Anas clocked 45.69 seconds to clinch the silver. The gold was won by Hassan Abdalelah of Qatar in 44.89 seconds.

  • It was Hima’s second national record in two days as she clocked 50.59 seconds to win the silver.
  • The Indian women’s kabaddi team settled for silver after a narrow loss to Iran in the final at the 2018 Asian Games 
  • Indian star shooter Heena Sidhu settled for silver medal in women’s 10m air rifle event on day 6.
  • Shardul Vihan wins silver in men’s shooting
  • Sanjeev Rajput bags silver in 50m rifle
  • Lakshay bags silver in Men’s trap shooting
  • Ravi Kumar and Apurvi Chandela wins silver in 10m Air Rifle mixed team event
  • Dharun Ayyasamy clinches silver in 400m hurdles
  • Deepak Kumar bags silver in men’s 10m air rifle event
  • Neena Varakil wins silver in long jump
  • Sudha Singh wins silver in 3000m steeplechase
  • India’s Varsha Gautham and Sweta Shervegar bag silver after they finish second in the Women’s 49er FX Race 15.

 

BRONZE MEDALS

  • Indian mixed doubles table tennis pair of Achanta Sharath Kamal and Manika Batra bagged the first-ever bronze medal after going down in the semi-finals of the 18th Asian Games.
  • Indian Men’s team lost to Singapore in semi-finals in Bridge event and settled for bronze. 
  • Indian mixed team suffered defeat at the hands of Thailand in semi-finals and settled for bronze.
  • India men’s compound team wins silver…celebrating defending champion side, comprising Abhishek Verma, Rajat Chauhan and Aman Saini
  • Indian table tennis men’s team settled for a historic bronze medal after losing 0-3 to South Korea in a lop-sided semifinal at the 18th Asian Games
  • In the men’s singles event, Prajnesh Gunneswaran, a native of Tamil Nadu settled for a bronze after losing 2-6, 2-6 to Uzbekistan’s Denis Istomin in the semifinal.

  • Joshna Chinappa wins bronze in women’s singles squash
  • Saurav Ghosal wins bronze in men’s singles squash
  • Pallikal Karthik settled for a bronze in squash women’s singles after losing to defending champion Nicol David of Malaysia in the semifinals of the 18th Asian Games.
  • Indian men team win bronze in kabaddi
  • Seven-time champion India failed to reach the Asian Games men’s kabaddi final for the first time
  • Ankita Raina bags bronze in Tennis women’s singles
  • Narender Grewal bags bronze in Wushu men’s Sanda

  • Saina Nehwal bags bronze in badminton
  • Indian boxer Vikas Krishan (75kg) settled for a bronze medal after he was declared medically unfit to fight his semifinal bout due to a cut on his left eyelid sustained earlier in the event.

With 13 Gold, 21 Silver and 26 Bronze medals, India is on a roll this year……and we are still cheering!
