Kebabs and Kurries:

It’s that time of the year where the best and most loved dishes from the Hyderabadi cuisine are brought forth. The month of Ramzan should be a must visit to Hyderabad for all those living outside the city. Many restaurants/hotels come up with the special ramadan menu and Kebabs and Kurries at ITC Kakatiya is not far behind. Ramzan Mubarak their month long food promotion has an appetizing menu. The ones that stood out were the marag, teekhe mirch aur hare matar ke kebab, soya haleem which was surprisingly flavourful with hints of garlic, tursh-e-paneer that had a stuffing of cheese & pomegranate layered with a tomato gravy & apricots on top! Dum ka murgh which I thought was going to be a regular dish, turned out to be one of the most distinctively flavoursome dishes I’ve ever had in the city! The Gucchi pulao(wild mushrooms) was another flavourful dish!

Kanak:

Kanak at Trident hosts the Rivayat food promotion each year with different cuisines. This year it’s the royal Kashmiri cuisine titled Rivayat-E-Kashmir where the extremely knowledgeable Chef Parvinder Bali has come down to curate this festival along with Chef Dharmendra Lamba, Trident Hyderabad’s executive chef. Dishes to try here are the Rogan Josh, Goshtaba(pounded lamb), Methi Tsaman, Nadru ki Chaap and many more. Kashmiri food is divided into two parts and that is the elaborate Wazwan and the pandit cuisine. The best aspects here, however, were the sinful desserts! Shufta, Kong Firin and Badami Kheer were rich in flavour and fabulously done!

Where: Kanak, Trident Hotel, Hitech City

Farzi cafe:

Farzi is known for it’s fusion food with a lot of innovations. It’s overwhelming to see the team working out on new menus and special occasion menus every 3 months! Last year they did the Ramadan Kareem menu and this year they’re dedicating the entire month of May to the king of fruits, mangoes! From old delhi aalu chaat with aam ki chutney to raw mango & papaya salad and mango dal with ghee rice to honey mango lamb chops, every dish was insanely delicious! Not to forget the desserts such as mango cheesecake and the mango popsicle with falooda!

Soda bottle Openerwala:

SBOW is the only restaurant in the city that serves delicious Parsi cuisine and also the only soda bottle outlet in the country that serves Hyderabadi food as well. Every year during the month of Ramzan the Gyaara Handi Haleem was served with 11 variations of haleem including vegetarian. But this year they’ve gone slightly off beat by celebrating food from the Middle Eastern countries during Ramzan. There’s a separate menu with dishes like Chicken Sheesh Taouk, Lamb Arayes, which is pita bread stuffed with spiced lamb, a huge platter of Irani Raan Pulao that had the most tender raan with fragrant rice and two popular desserts across the Middle East, one’s kunafa which is fried noodle-like strands layered on cheese and the other one’s Umm Ali which is baked puff pastry with pistachios and few other nuts! Apart from this, one can’t let go of the haleem obviously, so there are 5 varieties of it being served! SBOW certainly never disappoints when it comes to good food.

Feast:

Feast at Sheraton is hosting the Gahrwali food festival, a cuisine straight from the mountains! It’s wonderful how basic ingredients are transformed into something exceptional!  The trout(macchi fry) was the clear winner out of the entire meal for its crispy outer layer with the right amount of spice! The aam ki chutney was the perfect accompaniment with the appetizers such as the gaht ki dal ki tikki and bicchu ghaas ki kebab. The mains are all about home-style cooked food like the ultra-soft bhuna mutton, Ghar ki kukadi(chicken curry) and a whole lot of lentils and vegetable curries! Desserts comprised of meetha bhaat, baal mithai and jhangore ki kheer which tasted a lot like temple food.

Born and brought up in Hyderabad, i love the city for its simplicity and the historic value it carries. Studied my bachelors in Mass Communication and Masters in Journalism a while ago. Started food blogging in2013 gaining some positive feedback as cooking has always been my passion, it’s in the blood, all thanks to dad and grand mom. I cook with a lot of love and zeal and give it my 100%. I also lately came up with a Facebook page representing my blog as I wanted to spread the love of cooking and meet more people with the same passion. I live on cookery shows/recipes online and a day won't pass without trying out something in my kitchen! Apart from cooking, writing has always been an integral part of my daily life as i pen down my thoughts pretty often. It gives me a sense of satisfaction and helps me pass through a difficult phase quite smoothly leaving me burden free.
