Gurgaon and around, are home to some discreetly known places. Gurgaon, the city, can boast of copious options for entertainment and outdoor activities…. with go karting, play areas and activity centres, jazzing up the city….. somewhere we are oblivious to a lot many others that may have been undermined due to limited access. Pipli Zoo in Kurukshetra, known as Mini Zoo & Black Buck Breeding Centre, is a renowned leisure hub within Haryana…. but not a popular option with the urban dwellers yet!
The Mini Zoo is located on Grand Trunk Road near Pipli bus stand in Kurukshetra. Spread over 27 acres of land along the National Highway-1 in Kurukshetra, Pipli zoo is one of the three maintained zoos of the state wildlife department, the other two being in Rohtak and Bhiwani.
Albeit a meagre sized area, the zoo is well maintained and clean. The zoo may not be sized amply, but it can boast of some of the popular breeds of Flora and Fauna as Asiatic lion, Blackbuck, Hanuman langur, Chital (spotted deer), Indian leopard, Hyena, Jackal, Peafowl, Red jungle fowl, Hippo, Gharial, Mugger and Sambar.
Apart from this, there is a kids’ play area and of course, Mc Donald’s for a quick bite. Drinking water is available too, albeit, be well relieved as the washrooms are well….. unclean! The zoo has a dedicated area for animals to be adopted… and if you’re an animal lover or believe in philanthropy, just adopt one and oversee it’s well being by sponsoring it’s food and health.
The best weather to enjoy the green space of the zoo, is post fall, as most of the animals retire within the shelters to escape heat. A satisfactory family getaway, if you’re looking for something apart from the mundane places in Gurgaon, that are over done.
