We don’t call Gurgaon, Millenium City for nothing! Of course when the city grows into a one stop hub for corporates, start ups and gastronomy, it is bound to grow in the detrimental aspect too… namely Traffic and Pollution. And for those who experience the two dominant hiccups in the city, this should bring a sigh of relief! Our Gurgaon is getting intelligent!
India’s First ‘Intelligence Traffic System’ Comes To Gurgaon!
Gurgaon gets India’s first “intelligent traffic system”! With an aim to change the “perception about traffic in Gurgaon” , an Intelligent Traffic System (ITS) has been launched in the millennium city. Smart traffic signals are installed at four places along the HUDA City Centre to Bakhtawar Chowk stretch— Kanhai Chowk, the Sector 30/31 dividing road, Sector 31/45 traffic light, and Bakhtawar Chowk, to ease the snarling traffic that often makes headlines.
The project will be evaluated over the next six months to ascertain its impact, according to the Indian Express report. Travellers in Gurgaon have often experienced harrowing times due to heavy traffic congestion or heavy rains. The new system looks to address these problems.
Each signal is equipped with a vehicle detector, with all signals interacting with each other through optical fibres. The sensors detect traffic volume at those points, and communicate the same to their counterparts, which calculate signal control parameters accordingly. If traffic volume is high, the light remains green for longer, reducing traffic congestion as well as pollution.
Gurgaon’s First Electric Vehicle Charging Station, Finally Installed!
Gurgaon’s Rajeev Chowk to get its first Vehicle Public Charging Station by EV Motors! Slated to be ready around end of March, this will be the first government-sanctioned electric vehicle charging station in Gurgaon.
The charging station comes with the facility of provision for a total of three electric vehicles to use the facility at any given point of time to recharge their batteries. These stations will be high-capacity charging facility, giving the electric vehicle approximately an hour and a half charging time. The vehicle owners can book their slots in advance and access the Wi-Fi lounge while waiting.
Look forward to 6500 more such stations to see the light of day across India! Not just safety, but electric vehicles are a step towards clean air too!
Keep getting intelligent, Gurgaon!
