A chilled out, energetic vibe inside and a romantic, charming aura in the garden outside! The best of both worlds make Friction The Drinkery in Sector 29, Gurgaon every bit refreshing! Add to that copious amount of lip smacking good food and drinks, and the experience becomes all the more worthwhile!

So on a random hunt for a making a mundane evening wonderful, we spotted this place with an interesting name and a refreshing (literally so too!) garden in Sector 29, far from the madness of the Main 29 market yet very much a part of the action. The first thing that we loved about this place is that is that you don’t have to immerse yourself in the chaos that Sector 29 is to get there.
Friction The Drinkery

Ambience

As we walked in, we found several other reasons to love it. Friction is spread over two floors, ground floor and basement, both aesthetically done up. It’s the garden outside which is a whiff of fresh air! Large enough to host parties and private enough with nooks for date nights, this area is perfect for a meal under the stars, or for that matter, the sun! Friction is not just about food and drinks but also the ambience!

 Food and Drinks

The menu is versatile and there’s an array of cuisines to choose from. We decided to treat ourselves to a bit of everything.

The Paan Flavoured Dahi Kabab was melt-in-the-mouth good and flavourful. Smeared with a Paan flavoured glaze, despite having announced ourselves as ‘hardcore’ meat lovers, this one had us devouring it, much to our astonishment!  What’s refreshing is that for vegetarians, the options aren’t limited to just the ubiquitous paneer. The Creamy Broccoli is a great hit too. Done on the tandoor, this one is up on the taste as well as health quotient! We rest our case!

The Tibetan fish was smooth and absolutely lipsmacking. Tossed with bell peppers, this one is worth going back for over and over again.

The Chicken Tikka Two Ways had two twin favorites served together. Tikka in it’s red, hot, firecracker avatar and in it’s white and creamy element too. Each better than the other, needless to say, the tastebuds had a party on these!

The Hyderabadi Mutton Biryani was quite the masterstroke by the chef. A synergy of  intricate cooking and indigenous taste. The Olive and Jalepeno flavoured Chicken Biryani on the menu caught our fancy too and is something we’re going back for again.

The Grilled Chicken Chicken Breast was a recommendation from the chef. Must I admit, it didn’t disappoint us. It came with a rich barbeque sauce, a medley of veggies and mashed potatoes. Full marks!

The Sangria played the perfect buddy to the mood and the food. A perfect concoction of sweet and sour, it had me ordering another glass. The other half settled for a chilled beer. The bar menu though has something for every taste and pocket, Premium Scotch Collection, Beers, Whiskey and Classic Cocktails.

The sweet craving was satiated perfectly with the crunchy Cinnamon Rolls. Right amount of sugar, and incredibly delish, if heaven could be served on a plate, this’d be it. Need we say more!
The staff was exceptionally cordial, warm and courteous. Happy faces at your beck and call!
All in all, a wonderful place where the taste buds made a trip to Tibet, Italy, Mexico, India and back. Steer your wheels to Friction The Drinkery for a rejuvenating experience, and we know, you’ll thank us for it.
