Luxury is subjective. Who would know that better than me?…Why? By virtue of being privy first hand, to all that is fresh and new that comes to town, I chanced upon the experience. Among the list of luxury hospitality properties in Gurgaon, the one name that has risen, by it’s own accord, is Fortune Select Excalibur, a prodigy of ITC group. Located on the buzzing Sohna Road, the property stands out as the lone five star hotel in the vicinity.
My tryst with Fortune Select Excalibur, was anything but ordinary. Warmly Invited by Mr. Aditya Oberoi, Brand Manager [ Food & Beverage], who very graciously introduced me to the essence of the property, I anticipated the best of what i was about to encounter. Lauded for it’s recent facelift, the property pulls out it’s load of surprises!
The experience commenced with a splendid array of appetizers, cocktails and freshly brewed beer at The Brewhouse, the hotel’s Sports bar and Brewery. The ambience , very interestingly created with artificial grass, creapers et al for a ‘sit out in the garden’ feel, throws a casual, yet charming, feel, cleverly setting the carpet for the rest.
The Honey Lager Beer, poured fresh from their brewery, was a pleasant surprise for a non-beer drinker like me. Suggested by Mr. Dilbaag, Bar Manager, it was spot on and clubbed perfectly with the Non-Veg Kabab platter, a mix of Muton seekh, Chicken tikka, Murg malai tikka and Fish tikka….inexplicable!
The Green Apple Mojito, refreshing, garnished with the tautest mint leaves, came with Zig-Zag Chicken, crunchy exterior and tender inside, served with peri peri mayonnaise, it was as appetizing as it appeared!
The Brewhouse, with their menu of German-malted flavours of beer, a recently introduced a new a la carte menu comprising of delectable mouth . a daily dose of live performances, Saturdays, even more vibrant with Live singing performance by Neha Naaz, promises a superlative evening rendezvous!
Careful and resisting the temptation of another round of delicacies at The Brewhouse, keeping my appetite intact, I headed to India On My Plate, their Indian restaurant, a fine blend of culinary delights from across Pan India, where my main palate awaited. The interiors and the music, contributed to keep me in congruence with the cuisine.
From the culinary expertise of Chef Abhishek, I ordered Gosht Tariwala, his signature Dal Makhani and Matar Paneer kadai…a lot you’d say…but not till you’ve tried them!….and of course, my Cinderella ( Vodka infused cocktail) to accompany the wondrous meal. The Gosht, cooked to perfection, well done, blended in the Indian masala that literally melted on the tongue, gave a stiff competition to the Dal, which had me personally complimenting the Chef for.
India On My Plate offers an Unlimited concept of ‘Buffet on Table’ (INR 1199 +taxes) a treat you cannot miss, alongside savoring the selective a la carte menu which can be relished both for lunch & Dinner.
After the most luxurious meal and an equally matched service, the sweet bug in me took me to Zodiac- Astral Coffee Shop, the 24 hours coffee shop of the hotel, to savour the gorgeous spread of desserts! Keeping the embarrassment of my plateful, aside, I must share my surreal aficionado moments.
My picks included, the very innovative and one of the most delicious creations I have tasted, the Pineapple Halwa, the surprisingly light yet delectably tasteful Strawberry Rasgulla, Mango Phirni, Chocolate cake and Kiwi Delight, Kiwi concocted mousse, all created by the hotel’s team of master chefs.
With their buffet spreads for Breakfast, Lunch (INR 999+taxes) and Dinner ( INR 1199 + taxes), Tangra Food Festival “ being organized for a month long feast starting 2nd April onwards, offering the best of Indo -Chinese cuisine, and the on going South Indian Festival, Unlimited Lavish spread of Global Delicacies on Buffet with live cooking stations , sumptuous salad bar, Tempting culinary picks on Main course, Desserts…there’s lots more to be subjected to here.
It would be incomplete to not mention the Hotel bakery, Fortune Deli , that holds out all sweet delis, prepared by the qualified chefs of the hotel, offering a flat discount offer of 50 % off available daily from 7 pm until 11 pm.
With my taste buds and savoire-faire reeking of satiation, I leave you to experience it for yourself!
