Dashing, Plush, Classy and chic….that is Elemenopi for you. Recently opened in the posh Horizon One tower on the Golf Course Road in Gurgaon, is a swanky lounge bar that oozes the first impression of magnificence. Nah, I’m not advocating for the place, as it leaves no room for exaggeration here.
The extravagant bar area on a slightly elevated platform showcased their extensive bar menu. The barrels hooked on to the ceiling on one side above the sitting area lent a rustic ambience while the glasss walls on the main sitting area spelt uptown…a very interesting mix of interiors,
If the image above, set your interest level higher, wait till I let you in on the menu. No points for guessing, we started with the Bar menu. Ajay Rawat, bar manager at Elemenopi, was a wonderful host, who took the onus of creating cocktails for us with our individual base favourites.
It was Vodka based Devil’s Martini for me and Gin based Tangy Flowertini for my friend. The Devil literally visited me with this spicy tobasco and tomato juice infused Martini…score! The Flowertini was interesting in its flavour of blood orange and elderflower, completely opposing the martini in taste but score again…for its smoothness.
A completely Global cuisine concept, the food menu was a virtual world tour! It entails something from every part of the world….and so, I let Chef Bakul Sharma curate the menu for us, which he accepted with complete graciousness. The appetisers or Small Plates brought to us the Italian Spicy Corn Fritters, Vegetarian….and sumptuous!
Say hello to Cevapi from Bosnia. Lamb sausages served with Tazzazak, garlic yoghurt. Smooth and delicious, adding to our appetite….the right kind!
And now to Skampa Na Bazaru from Croatia, prawns in garlic and white wine…the sixer among the fours! Brownie points for the superlative mix of cuisines.
For our maincourse, Chef Bakul, brought out the big gun, the Sahan, and big it was…a mix grilled platter consisting of Chicken shish kabab, Moroccon Chermoula Fish skewers and Lebanese lamb Kafta, served with garlic yoghurt and Pita bread….by no means for the non foodie.
Time for us to dig in the Baklava and Brownie jar with ice cream. Baklava, that could give a million desserts clubbed together, a run for their…money! The Brownie in the jar did just what is needed to end a meal on a Happy note.
My verdict? Who says service is secondary? At Elemenopi it highlighted our food experience. Full marks for the kindest hospitality extended through the evening cooped with the distinct flavours from around the world….world on our plate, literally!
