The Trail Behind The Treasure
The Splendor of Kashmir was born out of a need to bridge to gap between the genuine discerning customer of the Kashmiri shawls and the sincere talented weaver of the valley”, explains Varuna Anand, the founder of the brand and a true shawl connoisseur. The venture was started for Varuna, a distinguished textile designer, by her late husband Parveen Anand in 2011, keeping in mind her love for textiles and his love for Kashmir, a place where he was born and his family has been living for many a generations. It was his way of giving back to these hard working craftsmen and so many people who are a part of the industry. He belonged to a family which had been in this state for seven generations so he put Varuna in touch with old craftsmen. They say your destiny drags you to where you are supposed to be and hence marriage took Varuna to the state of Jammu&Kashmir. Life somehow unfolded and Varuna’s husband Parveen wholeheartedly supported her passion for textiles and channelized it into promotion of these fine shawls from the state. Lately she was even conferred with the much coveted Times Women’s Achiever’s Award for Jammu & Kashmir.
