Expectations from Elections in India this year

The checklist for an elections in India ( especially this year )

With the nation going into full swing for the upcoming assembly elections, it’s easy to get lost in the literal commotion and frenzy that comes along as a guarantee with every single election our nation or states of the nation hold.
For the common man it’s all an unpredictable territory & even unknown to some extent.

Keeping that in mind, we here at What’s Up Life have compiled a comprehensive checklist for you to cope, know all that there is to know and also deal with the election frenzy.

Isn’t it obvious? Coming from Kolkata, this woman is indefinitely the first name which comes to mind when thinking or talking about any political movement or election.

Maverick Mamata Banerjee is in a fight to make her roots deeper and stronger in Bengal.
The EC’s decision to host a six phase poll in Bengal has left her all smiles, which is further boosted by the fact that a substantial chunk of people are still inclined towards making her stay in power – hence it does seem like she’s guarding her nest in a very systematic way.

As things stand, experts predict a sharp turn of events in Kerala – only if Left’s “big daddy” V S Achuthanandan ends up being part of the contest. This could very well be the story of this elections, considering how things have been unfolding in Kerela.
Whereas in Bengal, Left veterans have come out on the streets all guns blazing, campaigning hard but with little chance of making any significant comeback.

Nota Symbol

For the first time in these elections, the vote to reject all the candidates will have a symbol designed by NID which will be included in the EVM.

An expected turnout of 17 crore voters in four states and one union territory will use over 1.2 lakh polling booths.

7-0 in the making?

No this is not a football game score! Puducherry Chief Minister N Rangaswamy has held office since 2001. With seemingly little to stop his return to power once again, this might very well be his seventh term in office.

Coming back to what’s happening in Bengal, and also Tamil Nadu – the Chief Ministers of both states have an inclination of giving out free goodies. Apparently didi is giving out cycles to prospective voters and Amma is giving out baby kits and cement bags!

Tarun Gogoi

Not in the same league as Puducherry’s Chief Minister, but nonetheless – the Congress CM, Tarun Gogoi  who’s within touching distance of 80 has been in office for three straight years. If we are to go by anything, if he wins in his state of Assam, it’ll be a record for the state itself.

The U-Turn

Congress in Bengal joined hands with the Left Front in what many dubbed as an unholy alliance, will be looking forward to dethroning Mamata Banerjee. Only time will tell how this works out.

The charges of intolerance made by popular pop-culture icons like Shah Rukh Khan and Aamir Khan might just stick and affect the polls in a tremendous way. These elections will be an acid test of whether this issue mattered to the voters.
