Secret little places across the country seem to be a part of an endless list. Spiritual destinations are garnering copious attention. Kedarnath, Badrinath and Vaishno Devi are world renowned, maybe old news, But when our Prime Minister graces a destination, it is sure to shake a few rocks!
The cave at the Kedarnath shrine where Prime Minister Narendra Modi meditated overnight, just before the Lok Sabha elections, has virtually been rechristened as the “Modi cave” by a large number of people, the place has cumulated, is all set to become a spiritual tourist destination. The Gufa or cave popularly known as Kedarnath Rudra Gufa Meditation Cave, is now open.
Developed by the Garhwal Mandal Vikas Nigam (GMVN), a government enterprise which promotes tourism in the state, the cave, at a height of over 12,000 feet in the hills around the shrine – comprises a small area with an attached bathroom and a window overlooking the majestic temple.
Now wrap yourself in saffron and achieve Nirvana a la Prime Minister Modi, who had meditated there for nearly 17 hours and the social media couldn’t get enough of it. But if you do plan to book this sanctum, be ready to be devoid of any luxuries….. with only only a single bed, a bucket and a mug for bathing, the ‘gufa’ is a haven for renunciation. The cave has an electricity connection…. albeit no network connection and a window for a picturesque view of Kedarnath temple.
Several tourists have been looking to book a stay at the hut and have been referring to it as the ‘Modi cave’. Online booking is slated to be open for tourists soon….. Furthermore, a night’s stay at the cave, earlier costing INR 3000 has been brought down to INR 990!
Get some perspective…. dhyaan laga ke…..
Another one in my bucket list…
