Dussehra Celebrations and Ravan Dahan Venues in Delhi

Here comes the time when the entire country will celebrate the victory of good over evil. Towering effigies of demon King Ravana, his son Meghnad and brother Kumbhakaran blazed and crackled in fiery splendour as Dussehra, symbolizing the triumph of good over evil, will be celebrated across the country with fanfare and traditional fervour.  So, here are the best places to watch Ravan Dahan in Delhi.

Ramlilas, in Delhi, have got the permission to be conducted in a smaller format with a maximum of 200 people in closed auditoriums and a variable capacity of audiences in outdoor venues; while maintaining adequate social distancing.

Shriram Bharatiya Kala Kendra

Embracing the new normal, Shriram Bharatiya Kala Kendra’s (SBKK) annual dance drama Shri Ram will be staged at the grounds of SBKK in its full glory, starting October 17, 2020. All covid protocols are being adhered to at the venue, including limiting the number of people to 100 per day and six feet social distancing. Directed and choreographed by Padmashri Shobha Deepak Singh, Vice Chairperson of Shriram Bharatiya Kala Kendra, the two and a half-hour-long production presents an amalgamation of core values that reflect the emotions of devotion, loyalty, endearing family relationships and respect to elders.

Nav Shri Dharmik Leela


With a 160 ft wide stage to depict the Ramlila, the Raavan dahan at this Ramlila will have an effigy titled #metoo, to raise awareness against the ongoing debates on sexual harassment.

Organized by Shri Ram Lila Committee, Dussehra celebrations here are grand. Giant effigies of Ravan are burnt every year followed by a fireworks show, music and dance.

Lav Kush Ramlila Committee is one of the oldest committees in Delhi, was established in the year 1979. Since its inception, the committee has been organizing Ramlila shows and Ravan Dahan at Red Fort, Delhi. On the day of Vijay Dashmi, the effigy of demon king Ravan is burnt to symbolize the triumph of good over evil. Lot of celebrities across the country take part in this celebration.

Subhash Maidan

If you haven’t yet witnessed the Ravan Dahan celebration at Subhash Maidan, then you must definitely not give it a miss this year. As the effigies will be set ablaze amid chants in praise of Lord Ram, people can witness spectacular fireworks which will illuminate the sky.

DDA Grounds near National Victor School in Patparganj organizes grand Ravan Dahan on the day of Dussehra. Effigies of Ravan, Meghnad, and Kumbhkaran are set on fire and it is a great sight for the viewers to see these effigies burning with a grand display of firecrackers. Chanting of “Jay Shree Ram” can be heard to mark the victory of Lord Rama over Ravana.
