Here is Why ‘COWE’ is a Panacea for Modern Day Women Entrepreneurs

Being a woman entrepreneur is not an easy task. In fact, it is an additional challenge to say the least because being a woman entrepreneur not only are you selling your idea and service to the world, but because of being one you also have to sell the idea of a you have the abilities successful entrepreneur to a world who is yet to acknowledge this fact. In such a chaotic business ecosystem, clearly there is a requirement for an entity who can cleverly guide women entrepreneurs through the way.


Thankfully, today we have an organization such as COWE, which helps women-owned businesses succeed in global value chains.

What is COWE?

COWE is a non-profit company (under section 25A of The Companies Act – 1956) incorporated in 2004 and has been steered by an eminent Board of Directors since then. Formed by six enthusiastic women from different fields, with the support of 16 other executive members, COWE today has 600 strong women force from all over India.


Their organization’s slogan “Gearing women power” stands for the democratic structure of COWE and stands for “Of the women, for the women and by the women”. COWE was inaugurated on 22nd November 2004 by Honorable Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Dr. Y.S.R. Reddy and within this short duration has emerged as a well-organized and established organization working towards the goal of liberating women by making them financially independent and vibrant. The organization has a strong presence across 8 states – Delhi-NCR, Uttar-Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Chennai, Siliguri and is also known to extensively support different Government schemes like Beti Bachao, Trade related entrepreneurship assistance and development (TREAD) and others.

Their Projects 

COWE has till date completed three successful series of their Womennovator Initiative. With Womennovator, COWE plunged in with the intent to motivate and inculcate entrepreneurship culture among the students.

They have also been an integral part of various entrepreneurship events and summits such as 3rd Smart Cities India 2017 Expo and MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology- Boston) Global Startup Workshop 2016 in Hyderabad.

Some of their other Milestones are-

COWE has received the In-Principle sanction from the Dept.of MSME for a grant applied under the Integrated Infrastructure Development (IID) scheme to develop the Engineering Park at Toopran, Medak District.

COWE earning a member seat on the Board of Department of Mirco, Small & Medium Enterprise (MSME) Ministry of MSME, Govt.of India.

COWE signed an MOU with National Small Industries Corporation (NSIC) on 12th October 2010.

COWE Past President is one of the exclusive selection panelists for the GOLDMANSACHS 10000 women initiative program in ISB.

University of London and COWE are joining forces to create a trusted circle of cooperation to support female ventures to trade in the global market place.  The successful female owned venture DegreeArt.com in London (UK) has donated the fully functioning online innovative platform to support the cooperation of COWE and UEL and the BRIC centers of Excellence, to ensure access to the  global market place for female designs, artefacts and or services.

Participation in the Saitex Exhibition at Johannesburg, South Africa with the support of NSIC  by 8 of our Members gave good exposure and good opportunity to grow business internationally and build contacts.

59thIntergift Madrid, Spain was another trade fair where 2 of our Members participated with the support extended by Department of MSME.

Three of our Members participated in the 43rd International Trade Fair – Celje Slovenia – Europe with the support extended by NSIC.
