This botanical garden is spread in a total area of 30 acres and boasts of more than 50,000 rose bushes from 1600 different species. Established in 1967, not many know that this garden was named after the third president of India- Dr Zakir Hussain and hence is called ” Zakir Hussain Rose Garden”.
Being the largest rose garden in Asia, this Rose Garden is not only about roses. There are many kinds of plants which serve as a medicinal value. There are a multitude of roses that can be found here. With 50,000 rose bushes and more than 800 varieties of flowers, this place is nothing less than a visual treat. Apart from roses, you can also spot many other varieties of roses, medicinal plants and trees.

This garden is owned and maintained by Chandigarh administration. Consider this an ideal place for your morning or evening walk. Post evening you can enjoy the colourful fountains and soak into the beautiful aura which magnifies the value of this place. It’s also a photographers’ hub as there are various subjects for photographers who are fond of nature. Children too, can have a gala time here as they can head to the Children’s Area which has many swings and slides.
The Annual Rose Festival is held here in between February-March and is home to various kinds of competitions during that time such as gardening, photography, landscaping, bonsai etc. Tourists and Environmentalists from various countries grace this festival with their presence.
