Comic book couples we adore

Now that Valentine’s day is here, we can all take a step back and reminisce on the moment that made YOU feel like a superhero to your significant better half.

Like the saying goes – “there’s a superhero in all of us” it’s pretty natural to live up or try to live up to that expectation in any way possible. It really isn’t necessary for it to be a so-called exuberant way, the little-sweet moments count the same too.

Growing up, we have admired and idolized a few comic-book characters, heroes, anti-heroes or just a simple high-schooler…they have played a much bigger role in our lives than what it seems to be at first sight.
But when they fell in love, it gave us a reason to celebrate. Here’s a list of a few comic book couples for whom we have more than just a soft corner!

Superman and Lois Lane

comic couples

Superman is perhaps the most legendary comic character to have ever been created.

We as fans love how Lois shows “nerves of steel” even under great threat, and also the way she complements the man of steel in her own mature manner.

Spiderman and Gwen Stacy

comic book couplesThis guy right here is a difficult one to crack. Spiderman/Peter Parker has been coupled with a lot of different people over the span of a few decades…ever since his first comic issue came out. But if there’s one person who has stuck around for the longest, and also the person who has probably caught Spidey off-guard in a way no one has, it has to be Gwen Stacy.

Gwen is Spidey’s first girlfriend and we love how he pampers her! Her unfortunate death (because of the Green Goblin) sparked a huge outrage amongst the fans and was up for a heated debate.

Batman and Catwomancomic book couples

The Dark Knight needs no introduction. Catwoman aka Selina Kyle is an anti-hero with razor sharp reflexes just like a cat. Even though she’s a hero in her own right, Kyle actually started off as a petty criminal in Gotham; someone the Dark Knight was supposed to take down. Well, who knew things would turn out so differently!

A classic case of opposites attracting, Batman and Catwoman epitomizes the fact. These two are almost opposites in any and every sense. Oh! And how we love the back & forth verbal punches they throw at each other is beyond words.

Hulk and Black Widow

comic book couplesThe Hulk/Bruce Banner has in recent times become a household name, especially amongst the kids owing to the amazing portrayal of the character on-screen by Mark Ruffalo.
Black Widow is a spy and secret service agent who works for S.H.I.E.L.D, under Nick Fury.
Hulk’s anger management issues is a no-brainer, this is where Black Widow intervenes and places some butterflies in Hulk’s tummy! The proverbial “calm in the storm”, for Banner is provided by Black Widow.

Joker and Harley Quinn

comic book couplesHarley Quinn aka Harleen Quinzel met the Joker while working as a psychiatrist at Arkham Asylum, where the Joker was being treated. Harley Quinn fell in love with the Joker soon afterwards and has been an accomplice and on-again, off-again sidekick.

This couple can literally be described in one word – CRAZY! Not that it isn’t expected when the Joker is involved but, if there’s one person who could one-up his antics and madness, it’s this woman for sure! A pairing made in err…hell?

The Vision and Scarlet Witchcomic book couples

One is an android and the other a mutant. Thing’s don’t get spicier than this! The Vision and Scarlet Witch aka Wanda Maximoff started off by being members of the Avengers.
But then…love happened. These two eventually end up getting married.
For those who have seen Avengers-Age of Ultron would have noticed the subtle hint of this relationship going forward, during the last few minutes of the flick.

Archie and Betty

comic book couples

Living in Riverdale High, Archie is the guy next door and Betty is the perfect girl to be with. Betty is a modest, down to earth and simple girl and is as sweet as sugar. Complications sometime arise though, because of another woman – Veronica Lodge.

Nonetheless, Archie is at ease and happy when he’s with Betty.
