Aachu vitta sambar, avial, bendekaayi gojju, mango kuzhambu.. do we sound gibberish to you??!!! Hang on, these are the staple dishes served for an authentic Karnataka Thali Meal!! The Tech-Capital, Bengaluru might not be high on Thalis but the trend is gradually catching up. So much so, not only you get to relish Local Thalis but you also get to sample North Indian, Gujarati  or even Asamese Thalis.

Bengaluru’s Gramin tops the list as far as budget thalis matter to taste buds. The thali spread at this vegetarian restaurant is sumptuous and true value for money. For less than 200 bucks, you can gorge on a limited thali that includes two vegetables and a daal that you can mop with either rotis or pulkas. After this, you can chomp on flavoured rice, a bowl of cooling raita and the dessert of the day. Do note thalis are unavailable on Sundays and Public Holidays.

Nagarjuna is that one destination which you can rely without batting an eyelid for that authentic Andhra Thali. A multi-course meal served traditionally on banana leaf is bound to appease local taste buds. The traditional meal is served on Banana Leaf starring unlimited hot rice and ghee, rasam, sambhar, spinach daal, vegetable stir fry, chutney, papad, sweets and buttermilk. This thali is nothing but a sensory journey in the truest sense!!!

That budget thali with all the authentic dishes intact finds a permanent address at Bheema’s.  Get ready to get your hands messy and dig into that South Indianthali that’s served on a banana leaf with upkari (dry vegetable), coconut-based gravy and an unlimited supply of sambar, rasam and chutneys. The veggies at Bheema’s may change every other day but you can be assured that their service and quality won’t. If you aren’t a vegetarian, we’d suggest pairing your thali with a chicken dish on the side — just ask your waiter for recommendations.

Established in 1924, Bengaluru’s MTR Tiffin Room has been treating the city’s tastebuds for quiote a long time. You must head to MTR which serves the most iconic dishes of Karnatakain its thali. This particular Karnataka Thali Meal is a sumptuous traditional Vegetarian meal served in different portions on Weekdays and Weekends.The meal includes favourites like Bisibele Bath, Maddur Vade, Puri Sagu, Rasam and Payasam made in the most authentic way. You can experience a mini thali which includes rice, curries and desserts each singular in ingredients and flavor. Each thali comes with a variety of rice or roti options to choose from. The Special Thali features Poori or Chapati with Kosambari, Palya, Veg Curry, Rice, Sambar, Rasam, Curd, Pickle, Papad, Sweet and Icecream, sounds a giant meal!!!! Try their Ragi Mudde meals that come with soft, melt-in-your-mouth ragi balls along with a delicious curry made from greens. Kapoor’s Café

Thalis at Kapoor’s Café is an extravagant affair. The Vegetarian or the Ek Raja Thali features Daal Makhni, Rajma, Chole and Paneer Butter Masala Thali. Each thali comes with Jeera Rice, Boondi Raita and Papad offcourse. Moving on to the Maharaja Thali which is usually packed with parathas or phulkas and peas pulao with subzi along with the standard accompaniments like Masala Papad, Bondi Raita, Chaas or Lassi and Fruit Cream. As much as your belly can handle it is exorbitantly good.
